    Few people have school aged children these days, which makes school district community relations more important than ever. Our work with several school districts began with this campaign for Mead School District, reaching out to the 75% of district residents without kids in school. We performed population research, developed key messages, trained staff, redesigned and rewrote printed and online communications, produced signage for the schools, worked with a citizen foundation to advertise the district’s successes, and we organized a year of centennial celebrations and events to bring attention to the district’s rich heritage—and to reconnect with elder residents who had lost touch with their local schools. Positive results showed in numerous compliments to the district, increased attendance at events, a rush to enroll children in some of the district’s flagship schools, and solid citizen support for the district even as adjacent districts lost levy votes.
